Motorized winches (such as those from brands like INI Hydraulic) operate by converting electrical or hydraulic energy into mechanical pulling force. At the core of the system is a power source (an electric motor or a hydraulic pump) that generates high-speed rotational energy. This energy is fed into a planetary gearbox, which acts as a force multiplier; it reduces the speed of the rotation while significantly increasing the torque. This high-torque force turns a cylindrical drum, causing the wire rope or cable to wind or unwind. A critical braking system is integrated into the drum or motor assembly to ensure the load is held securely when the motor is off, preventing accidental slipping.
