Precision Tensioning: The Ultimate Steel Connection Solution
A TC (Tension Control) bolt shear wrench is a specialized power tool designed to install “twist-off” bolts to a precise, pre-determined tension. The wrench features a unique dual-socket design: an inner socket that engages the splined tip of the bolt and an outer socket that grips the nut. When the tool is activated, the two sockets rotate in opposite directions; the outer socket turns the nut clockwise to tighten the connection, while the inner socket holds the bolt’s spline to prevent it from spinning. As the bolt reaches its required tension, the resistance increases until the torsional force exceeds the strength of the bolt’s notched neck. At this exact point, the splined tip shears off, indicating that the correct clamping force has been achieved and leaving the bolt perfectly installed without the need for a manual torque wrench.
